Cinema encyclopedia to chronicle Iran history

Proposed Encyclopedia on Iranian Cinema to chronicle the country's cinematic history.

Iran cinema encyclopedia website named 'Cicinema' is set to be inaugurated on the opening day of the 36th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF).

The website will chronicle the history of Iranian cinema, including from the first camera purchased by Iran in 1897 and the first cinematic pictures taken three years later in 1900.

Other areas to be covered include important events and developments in contemporary Iranian Cinema.

So far, Iran has produced some 4,000 feature films and 6,500 short films, all of which have been collected and archived by the website.

The encyclopedia aims at providing the international audience with a comprehensive reference to discover Iranian Cinema.

'Cicinema' will be available to users on the opening day of the 36th Fajr International Festival on April 19.

The FIFF provides a unique platform for an interchange of professional experience and international meetings.

The 36th FIFF will be held in Tehran on April 19-27, 2018.
